The aftermath of Chicago's blizzard of 2011. Elmwood Park Illinois USA. Wednsday, February 2nd, 2011.

Hi everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.

A local Chicago news story that many of You have proboubly heard about, or experienced first hand if You live anywhere in the greater Chicagoland area, was the notorious Chicago blizzard of 2011 that hit the greater Chicagoland area yesterday. February 1st, 2011.

On Monday , January 31st 2011, the National Weather Service had issued a severe blizzard warning for the entire Chicago area from 3:00 PM Tuesday, until 3:00 PM Wednsday.

Begining around 2:15 PM....It hit Chicagoland very hard. With 45 mile and hour winds, low visibility, white out conditions, several Commonwealth Edison customers in Chicago without electrical power, and several yet to be plowed and salted roads...It was a real life nightmare. The heavy night time lake effect snowstorm also featured thunder and lightning of all things, with big blue flashes of light in the sky.

Many businesses in the entire Chicago area were closed today, and the snow wich was predicted to stop falling around 3:00 PM, actually stopped around 11:00 AM instead.

The village of Elmwood Park Illinois, was especially hard hot from the storm. Many residents were spotted this afternoon litterally "Digging Out" from the aftermath of the storm. Many cars like this local S.U.V parked on North 74th Court, had to be dug out by hand using shovels.

Tonight, the outside temperature reading is supposed to be Zero degrees Farenheight. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Thanks.
Eddie K.
