Burlington Northern RR 1950's era EMD SD-9 roadswitcher working at Clyde yard. Cicero Illinois. June 1985.

I took this photo looking southwest from the Laramie Avenue overpass bridge in west suburban Cicero Illinois, way back in June of 1985.

One of My favorite memorys about railfanning in Chicago back in the 1980's, were the many EMD 1st Generation locomotives that were still working daily on many Chicago area railroads.

Although EMD cab unit locomotives such as the E and F series locomotives were becoming ever increasingly rare by this time around Chicago, the hood units like this 1950's era EMD SD-9 and several EMD SW series yard switchers were still everyday sights around the Windy City. First Generation EMD's always had a strong prescense here at Clyde Yard during the 1970's and 80's, many years after they were built.
