After 81 years in operation in near northwest suburban Melrose Park Illinois, Chicago's Kiddieland Amusement Park had closed it's gates to the public for the last time. The last day of public operation was on Sunday, September 27th 2009.
According to this picture, the greater Chicagoland area is about to lose yet another of it's vintage train stations from the historic past. No, not any of the ones utilized by Metra or Amtrak trains, but rather this one used by the miniature Kiddieland Limited passenger train on the 14 inch track guage amusement park railroad line. The station and amusementg park will both be missed.
