Preserved 1951 GM TDH series old look transit bus from the Chicago Motor Coach Company. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. Friday, July 3rd 2009.

I took this photo inside of the Illinois Railway Museum's bus barns.

This 1951 vintage General Motors TDH Series "Old Look" 40 foot transit bus, had originall worked for one of the Chicago Transit Authority's predecessor companys known as The Chicago Motor Coach Company.

The Chicago Transit Authority was formed in the year of 1945, and actually began operations in 1947 with the purchase of the two transit companys known as the Chicago Surface Lines, and the Chicago Rapid Transit Company. The Chicago Motor Coach Company joined the CTA in the year of 1952.

This bus is more than likeley from the last new order of buses for the Chicago Motor Coach Company. The Chicago Transit Authority operated these in passenger service until approximately 1972.
