Inside the interior waiting room concourse of Chicago's NorthWestern Station downtown. ( Gone.) Chicago Illinois USA. January 1984.
The time was running out for the historic 1911 built Northwestern Station in downtown Chicago Illinois, when I took this photo way back in January 1984.
this was the dimly lit but very active steam era waiting room and concourse inside of Northwestern Station. It would be demolished begining in June of 1984, and replaced with a modern tall steel and glass office building originally called "The NorthWestern Atrium Center". After the Union Pacific Railroad absorbed the former Chicago & Northwestern Railroad through merger in 1995, the building was renamed "The Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center in honor of the late Illinois Govoner.
