Historic photo! Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad 0-8-0 steam locomotive switcher # 170 at work in west suburban La Grange Illinois USA. 1937.
I found this photo recently on the internet at a site known as Fallen Flags.Org
I enjoyed this particular website so much, that I added them to My links page listing
to the right of Your computer screen.
This photo was taken in west suburban La Grange Illinois, during the year of 1937.
Eight wheeled 0-8-0 switcher type steam locomotives had rarely left freight yards and terminals during the steam era, but some railroads like the Norfolk & Western and apparently the Indiana Harbor Belt...used these locomotives on switching locals and light road assignments.
This one appears to at work on a switching local assignment picking up and setting out freight cars on factory and various industrial spur sidings.
