Indaiana Harbor Belt Railroad EMD NW-2 switcher # 8734 and a caboose. Hammond Indiana USA. March 1976.
This photo comes to You via My newest links page Fallen Flags.Org to the right of Your computer screen.
This photo was taken way back in March of 1976, America's Bicentenial year.
Inidana Harbor Belt Railroad EMD first generation modl NW-2 yard switcher locomotive # 8734 and a recently painted Jade green IHB transfer caboose, are viewed at work in Hammond Indiana.
I enjoyed seeing this photo, because it remindd Me of the Indiana Harbor Belt's own "Stockyards branchline local", wich I had witnessed passing behind Chicago's Curie High Schol on an almost daily basis from 1977 to 1981.
The IHB trains back then, looked every bit like the 1950's era New York Central Railroad. Happy memorys for Me indeed.
