Trash collection at the CTA West 63rd Street terminal loop. Summit Illinois USA. January 2007.

Chicago Transit Authority trash collection at the West 63rd Street terminal loop in Summit Illinois. January 2007.

I took this photo looking west at the intersection of West 63rd Street and South Archer Road / Illinois U.S Route # 171 in southwest suburban Summit Illinois.

An everyday but often un noticed activity of the Chicago Transit Authority, is the behind the scenes maintenance chore of trash collection at the many bus terminal loops in the greater Chicagoland area.

Seen here at the West 63rd Street bus terminal loop at the intersection of South Archer Road, is a Chicago Transit Authority owned Freightliner garbage truck alongside one of the CTA's many NOVA transit buses.

The CTA owns more than just transit buses.
Heck! Theres box trucks, wreckers, cargo work vans, snowplow trucks, armoured cars supervisors cars, work buses, garbage trucks, and various other "In House" service vechicles used to maintain the infrastructure of a busy transit agency.

The operations are a city within a city.
