A happy memory for many local Chicagoans who had grown up on the north side of the windy city, were many fun outings at the Riverview Roller Rink.
Loacted along North Western Avenue near the intersection of West Belmont Avenue, this roller rink opened in 1904 with the Riverview Park amusement park, and lasted until 1971 when it was unfortunately destroyed by an extra alarm fire.
The Riverview Roller Rink was operated year round, and outlived Riverview Park itself by a few years more.
I have always enjoyed roller skating since I was 7 years old, and I only wish that I had the opportunity to actually skate at the Riverview Roller Rink Myself.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
