I found this wonderful historic Chicago Transit Authority photo this morning at My Link Page "Tom's Trolleybus Pictures", located to the right of our computer screen at www.trolleybuses.net

A colorful time I fondly remember growing up as a little boy in Chicago during the 1960's, was the CTA's elecric trolleybus era. (Or what was left of it.)

Chicago operated a network of electric powered trolleybus routes from 1930 until 1973.
Most of these were located on the north side of Chicago, and were mostly former electric streetcar routes that were converted to electric bus operation.

This photo was taken on December 1st, 1963, and is listed as being taken on location along West Montrose Avenue. Can anyone tell Me what intersection this was at?

I rode the CTA electric trolleybuses on the Route # 52 Kedzie /California Avenue line, as well as the Route # 53 Pulaski Road line, the Route # 54 Cicero Avenue line, and possibly, the Route # 78 Montrose Avenue line when I was just a kid.

Chicago's last two electric troleybuses that operated on the last day of service, Sunday, March 25th, 1973, are preserved and occasionally operated today at The Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. www.irm.org

Thanks.
Eddie K.
