One of My favorite railroads that I had grown up with in Chicago during the 1970's and 80's, was the former Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.
This railroad, was created from the August 10th, 1972 merger of the Illinois Central, and the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad. For many years after the merger,
locomotives and color schemes from the previous railroad companies would roll
through town on any given ICG freight train.
This photo is from My Link Page Fallen Flags.Org, and the location is listed as
being East St. louis Illinois. This photo was taken in May of 1975.
