This historic black and white photo from the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad , was taken at the C,B & Q's own Clyde Yard locomotive teminal near the intersection of West 31st Street and South Ogden Avenue, in the west suburban village of Cicero Illinois.

When the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, the Spokane Portland & Seatle, The Great Northern, and the Northern Pacific all merged on March 2nd 1970 to officially become the Burlington Northern Railroad, there were still many former C,B & Q locomotives rolling around in the 1950's era black and gray C,B & Q "Blackbird" color scheme.

This photo from the Dennis Schmidt collection at My Link Page Fallen Flags.Org, is listed as being photographed on March 23rd, 1970 sometime after the merger.

During the early 1970's while many people were watching "The Brady Bunch" on television, I was watching the former C,B & Q locomotives in the 1950's black and gray, and the 1960'sred and gray color scheme whenever I would pass Clyde Yard in My family's 1971 Plymouth Scamp 2 door car. I recall that some of these would be seen here until at least 1974 in their original C,B & Q color schemes.

Yes,the BN Clyde Yard in west suburban Cicero Illinois, was a colorful place during the late 1960's and early 1970's era.

Thanks.
