I found this photo at My Link page for The Illinois Railway Museum, located in the town of Union Ilinois USA. wwww.irm.org

Many photos that were taken over the years of electric city streetcars in citties like Chicago and many other places, most often are exterior photos of the cars either at terminals, carbarns, or traveling down city streets. Interior views are sometimes hard to come by.

Seen here on the IRM webpage in a section entitled "Members Photo Albums", is a nice reference interior photo taken inside restored Chicago Surface Lines car # 1374, iwch was built by the St. Louis Car Company in 1906.

This car operated in daily Chicago transit service until 1945, when it was demoted to a maintenance work service car and wintertime salt spreader.

After many years of hard work and restoration, this car now travels operates along the museum's circular trolley loop. This car demonstrates how it looked and felt like riding aboard Chicago's electric powered city streetcars many years ago.

In the years before grafitti and vandalism began to plaque many transit agencies equipment, varnished interior wood work was a definate symbol of civic pride.

Thanks.
