Southbound Chicago Transit Authority Brown line train entering the West Addison Street station. Chicago Illinois. March 2006., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photo back in early March of 2006.
A Chicago Transit Authority brown line train enroute to downtown Chicago, makes the West Addison Street station stop.
Prior to the CTA's decission to color code their rapid transit routes in 1993, this line was originally known as "The Ravenswood Elevated Line".
Shortly after I had taken this photo, the Addison Street station and several others on the CTA brown line, were closed for construction of new 8 car capable rapid transit stations and infrastructure improvements to the former Ravenswood line.
The original stations on the former Ravenswood line, could only six car CTA rapid transit trains, and were very outdated and falling apart.
The Addison Street station shown here, still has the old wooden loading platforms.
