Early 1970's era Illinois Central Gulf Railroad switching local. December 2011., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photo recently, at The Oak Park Society Of Model Engineers, H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.
My train shown here, is reanacting a scene from My youth when I was growing up on the near southwest side of Chicago during the 1970's.
My train, is representing one of the many switching locals that I used to see, on the former Illinois Central Iowa Division Mainline one mile south f where I used to live in Chicago.
This is how the early 1972 merger era Illinois Central Gulf switching locals used to look like sometimes. Occasionally, former Gulf, Mobile & Ohio motive power or cabooses were assigned to these as well.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
